U.S. is a Christian nation, part II

Letter to the editor

Posted: Wednesday, February 07, 2007

I am writing in response to the letter dated Feb. 5, "You Proved your own point wrong," by Casey Loofbourrow. Excuse me, but Loofbourrow, and not Alfredo Velazquez (Feb. 2), is wrong. We are a nation founded by Christians. Remember that our coins state, "In God We Trust."

Sound off on the important issues at

Also, the courts use the Bible when they make people swear "to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God." The preamble to the Constitution states, "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish Justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

The word "blessings" is a holy word from Christianity, as well as the word "ordain." What more can I say? Loofbourrow is wrong, not Velazquez. God bless America.
