Two of the Juneau Douglas Ice Associations' travel teams captured tournaments in Yukon Territory.
The JDIA squirts, a 9- to 10-year-olds division, won the Yukon Championships in Teslin on Jan. 28. The mites, a 7- to 8-year-olds division, captured the Spirit of 2010 Novice Hockey Tournament in Haines Junction last weekend.
In Haines Junction, the mites won the Spirit of 2010 for the second-straight year Sunday with an 8-0 rout of Whitehorse Wal-Mart.
The win avenged an earlier 8-0 loss to Wal-Mart on Friday. The mites finished second to Wal-Mart after pool play.
In the semifinal round, the mites nipped Whitehorse Klondike Motors 4-3 in overtime. Juneau defenseman Ryan Liebelt converted a breakaway opportunity to win in overtime.
