JAHA Roundup: Fabrello fabulous as the Ice Dogs top the Island Pub

Dan Fabrello's second goal with 46 seconds left in the game boosted the Ice Dogs to a 3-2 win over the Island Pub on Sunday at Treadwell Arena in Juneau Adult Hockey Association Tier B action.

Fabrello also had an assist while Nathaniel Haddock posted a goal and assist. Greg Stopher had an assist for the Ice Dogs.

For the Island Pub, Brant Oliphant and Ian Fisk scored goals while Dennis Hall chipped in an assist.

Mario Perez stopped 18 shots for the Island Pub, while the Ice Dogs' Jim Craig denied 15 of 17 attempts on goal.

TIER B

Winter Kings 6, Kensington Goldminers 2

Six players scored goal for the Winter Kings in a rout of the Kensington Goldminers.

Joran Freeman, Robert Jones, Chris Chiles, Randy Host, James Swanson and Brian Van Kirk lit the lamp in the win. Swanson added two assists while Scott Host, Freeman and Robert Jones posted one assist each.

Dennis Weston and Tod Young scored goals, while Kevin Ellsworth and Thomas McKenzie chipped in assists for Kensington.

Jerry Nankervis made 25 saves for Kensington while Stephen Morrison stopped 25 of 27 shots for the Winter Kings.

WOMEN'S A

Jaded 1, Island Pub 1

Mary-Lou Gervais scored early in the third period to deny Jaded a win Sunday.

Kristin Petterson picked up the assist on Gervais' goal.

Daria West provided Jaded's goal off assists from Mary-Ellen Arvold and Stacie Bentley.

Dawn Voss made 10 saves for Jaded while Jessica Parks stopped 22 shots for Island Pub.

WOMEN'S B

Gold 4, Les Schwab 3

Elise Augustson scored with 1:50 left in regulation to lift the Gold past Les Schawb on Sunday.

Susanne Bostrom picked up the assist on Augustson's goal.

Kristin Bartlett and Jesse Kovach also scored, while Augustson and Molly Yerkes added assists in the win.

Kara Winegar scored twice and Lauree DiCarlo added a goal for Les Schwab. Jessica Parks had two assists while Julie Leary, Cheryl Levitt, Julie Nielsen and Caroline Demay added one assist each in defeat.

TIER C

Yellow 5, Grey 2

The Yellow scored three times in the first period and held on for a Sunday win.

George Campbell and Todd Wimmer scored two goals each and Dave Blaisdell added one goal and assist for the Yellow. Matthew McGuan and Micah Sommers contributed assists and Darryl Tseu stopped 14 of 15 shots in the win.

Kim Smith and Jeffery Johns scored goals and Andrew Jensen added an assist in defeat.

Gene Cheeseman made 27 saves in defeat.

D.K. Mining Co. 3, Blue Chunks 1

D.K. Mining received a lift from its special teams to defeat Blue Chunks on Monday.

Jason Bluhm scored a power play goal, Mike Chambers found the net while shorthanded and Val Martinez scored an even-strength goal for D.K. Mining. Martinez, Chambers, Peter Sommers, Josh McAdoo and Arnie Johnson all had assists in the win.

Gene Cheeseman stopped 13 of 14 shots for D.K. Mining.

J.J. Vollenweider scored the Blue Chunks' lone goal - an unassisted, power-play tally at 15:25 in the second period.

Wayne Coleman turned back 13 of 14 shots while Blue Chunks goaltender Jeffrey Goetz stopped 28 of 31 shots on goal.

TIER D

Grey 8, Air Excursions 0

The Grey's Andrew Parsons scored a hat trick as the Grey routed Air Excursions on Sunday.

Evan Bixby found the net twice while Kent Hart, Bret Connell and John Hickey scored one goal each. The Grey's Hart had two assists while John Hickey, Darren Snyder, Patrick Race and Topaz Shyrock posted one assist each in the win.

The Grey racked up 38 shots on Air Excursions goaltender Darryl Tseu.

Gene Cheeseman made six saves to preserve the shutout.
