Mitchell Dunlap, a seventh-grade student at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School, will travel to Washington, D.C. next month as part of the People to People World Leadership Forum.
Dunlap, the son of Terry Dunlap and Lea Ike, will join other students in the nation's capital from March 2-8. In addition to touring some of the city's most famous museums and historic sites, Dunlap and the rest of the students will participate in small-group discussions on the skills of successful leaders.
"I'm really looking forward to meeting people in government and getting the chance to see (historic sites)," he said.
The forum is coordinated by People to People Ambassador Programs and People to People International, founded by former President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956.
