Legal rights aside

Posted: Friday, February 08, 2002

Although I agree with her critics that Karen Carpenter could have changed the station or turned off her radio, I think she was completely within her rights to complain to the radio station and to sponsors of the show. Mr. Leykis had a right to have a distasteful show, but certainly Ms. Carpenter had a right to protest against it. But legal rights aside, I think the personal on-air attack of Mr. Leykis on Karen Carpenter was disgusting. Certainly I will be willing to forego services or products of future sponsors of the show if it is reinstated.
