Discovery Days at Eaglecrest are back

Posted: Sunday, February 08, 2009

Join Discovery Southeast at Eaglecrest Ski Area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 16 for the Discovery Days and get to know the mountain environment from a whole new perspective.

The schedule of events includes a snowshoeing adventure for kids ages 10-12 from 10 a.m.-noon, a noon talk in the lodge by Eran Hood, UAS environmental science professor, entitled "Monitoring Weather, Snow and Avalanches at Eaglecrest;" and an exploration of the Nordic Loop on skis, also for kids age 10-12, from 1 to 3 p.m. Stop by Discovery Southeast's table in the lodge for more information.

Space is limited for outdoor activities, and weather-appropriate clothing is necessary. Snow shoes will be provided, but participants will need their own Nordic skis so reserve your school skis today. Call 463-1500 to register. All activities are free for Discovery Southeast members and costs a small donation for non-members. Visit for more information.
