Gov. Sean Parnell, Fish and Game Commissioner Denby Lloyd and members of the governor's staff met with Yukon Premier Dennis Fentie and members of his Cabinet in Whitehorse on Friday. The governor and premier agreed to continue to work together on issues of common interest and prepare for future growth for both regions.
"Alaska and the Yukon share many issues of mutual importance," Parnell said. "Premier Fentie and I had a good conversation on the potential of increasing jobs and commerce between Alaska and the Yukon, and strengthening our trade relationship. We look forward to continuing our collaborative partnership, and maintaining a positive dialogue on reciprocal matters."
Parnell and Fentie discussed a range of topics, including the Alaska Pipeline Project, the Porcupine caribou herd, tourism, energy infrastructure and Yukon River salmon.
