ANCHORAGE - The federal government saids an Anchorage company is recalling about 872 pounds of sausage products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture saids Alaska Sausage Co. is recalling the product produced on Jan. 27.
The recall covers:
3-pound packages of Alaskan Sausage Links with Reindeer Meat. Each package has the code "02709," and a sell by date of "03/22/09."
1- and 3-pound packages of German Brand Cooked Bratwurst. The recalled packages have the code "02709," and a sell by date of "03/02/09.
The company found the problem during its sampling program.
The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. There have been no reports of illness.
