FAIRBANKS - A 43-year-old Chitina man with a 20-year criminal history and ties to the Hell's Angels received a 15-year prison sentence for the fatal stabbing for a North Pole man.
Thomas Hale's sentence comes four months following a guilty verdict for manslaughter and evidence tampering.
Superior Court Judge Michael A. MacDonald told Hale the sentence was the "sordid by-product of a dangerous life."
Hale stabbed 49-year-old James Steward at his home in the late summer of 2007. Hale and three other men had gone to Steward's home reportedly to get information from Steward.
Hale and Steward got into a fight with Steward reportedly attacking first. Hale stabbed Steward, then fled the area, leaving the man to bleed to death.
