World's largest aircraft to land in Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS - The world's largest commercial cargo aircraft will make a stop Tuesday in Fairbanks.

The Ukrainian-registered Antonov AN 225 is scheduled to land at Fairbanks International Airport at 10 a.m. and depart at midnight.

The aircraft will fly in from Narita, Japan. It will leave Fairbanks for Miami en route Port-au-Prince, Haiti, carrying more than 250,000 pounds of earthquake disaster relief equipment.

The strategic airlift transport aircraft has a 290-foot wingspan and a length of 276 feet.

A Boeing 747-400 has a wingspan of 212 feet and length of 232-feet.
