Capt. Tom Meismer has stepped down as the Civil Air Patrol's Southeast Composite Squadron Commander. Meismer, an employee of the Federal Aviation Administration, held the position for three years.

Taking over the CAP unit is Deputy Commander Boyce Bingham, a 25-year Army veteran. He is employed as the Aviation Safety Inspector for the FAA.

Four Juneau residents were named to the Dean's List for the fall semester at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. They are Elizabeth Green, a letters and science student; Katrina Abbott, an education student; Jonathan Albrecht, an engineering student; and Roy Tromble, an engineering, letters and science student.

Richard (Rick) Walsh, son of Murray and Sara Walsh, graduated magna cum laude from Winona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

Jessica Scott was named to the Dean's List at the University of Washington in Seattle for the fall quarter of 1999.

Melanie Ann MacKinnon, a 1995 Juneau-Douglas High School graduate, graduated from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash., in December. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.
