John E. Shibley
Juneau resident John Everett Shibley, 38, died Feb. 6, 2001 in Juneau. He was born Sept. 7, 1962, to Jim and Darlene Shibley in Rio Arriba County, N.M. He grew up near Abiquiu at the Ghost Ranch Conference Center, where his family lived from 1957 until 1995. He is a 1980 graduate of McCurdy Mission School at Santa Cruz, N.M., and a 1985 honor graduate of the Oregon State University School of Forestry. His career with the U.S. Forest Service included service in the New Mexico communities of Jemez Springs, Penasco and Taos, as well as Juneau.
His family regrets he did not learn depression management as well as he mastered sports, horse riding, computers, forestry and fixing mechanical things.
He was preceded in death by his mother and mother-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, formerly of Vadito, N.M.; daughter, Shannen Darlene, 7; son, James Daniel, age 19 months; brother, David, of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Meg Broste of Albuquerque; father, Jim Shibley, and stepmother, Judy Shibley of Seminole, Texas; and numerous other relatives.
