Stabbing suspects shouldn't get bail

Posted: Wednesday, February 11, 2004

I find it outrageous that Judge Froehlich set bail for those two cowards. The cab driver, Eric Drake, paid a high price being so brutally attacked. Even if those two go to jail he will continue to pay so that they both get three square meals a day, a warm place to sleep, free medical care, free education, job training, counseling, and I'm sure the list goes on and on. He will pay through taxes, as will we all. Mr. Drake and his fiance, Maria Miller, have no insurance and are hoping that the community will help them pay their bills. Yet those two evil people will have everything taken care of by our tax money.

Someone out there will say "yeah, but they will no longer have their freedom, so that's punishment in itself." Bull. They chose to give up their freedom when they commited this cowardly act. If I had my choice of where my tax money would be spent, it would be given to the cab driver; but I don't have that choice. It's disgusting how we always tend to take care of our criminals and make sure we don't step on their rights, yet the victims are left to fend for themselves. Whoever comes up with the money to post bail for them, should give that money to the victim. Let's see how much money will be spent defending these cowards and then see how much money the community can raise to help Mr. Drake. The American legal system - it's the best money can buy!
