Advertisements run by an energy industry trade group give an "incomplete picture" of the effect of Alaska's oil and gas production tax, Gov. Sean Parnell said Tuesday.
The Alaska Support Industry Alliance official has said Alaska's oil and gas tax is discouraging investment and needs fixing.
But Parnell said there are other factors, including the global economy and the companies' own balance sheets.
House Democrats recently called on the Alliance to change the ads, calling them misleading. Members of the minority said jobs and investment have increased under the current tax structure, known as Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share, or ACES.
