Members of the Juneau Volunteer Fire Department pose in 1900, approximately one year after it was organized by a group of local citizens. Technology has come a long way within the department; from its first alarm system, which was a large bell located in the waterfront area, to the present time, with each firefighter having pagers or cell phones to respond to emergencies.
