Valentine's Day ice skating - The Treadwell Arena will host a Valentine's Day skate on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be music during the session. Fees for open skates are $4 adults, $3 youths (age 17-younger) and $2 seniors (age 65-older). Skate rental is $2 for adults and youths, and $1.90 for seniors. Roughhouse Friday boxing - Roughhouse Friday boxing presents the "Valentine's Day Massacre," with Al Valentine vs. Justice "Cheesy" Cortese as the main event. Middle school wrestling - Juneau Tournament: Tournament for Southeast Alaska's top middle school wrestlers opens at 4 p.m. on Friday, with the second round starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Semifinals are at 2 p.m., consolation finals at 5 p.m. and championship finals at 6 p.m.

Southeast Road Runners club - 21st Annual Sweethearts' Relay: Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Douglas Fire Hall, with race start at 10 a.m. This race is is for two-person teams, with the first person running two miles and the second person three miles. Raincountry Flyfishers monthly meeting - Meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Mendenhall River Community School library for a presentation and video by Tony Soltys on fishing for rainbow trout, lake trout and arctic grayling at Kathleen Lake, Yukon Territory. Soccer clinic for women - The Juneau-Douglas High School girls soccer team will host two soccer clinics for women, from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, and Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Marie Drake gym. The cost for the clinics are $25 per session and women are encouraged to attend both sessions or just one. The clinic is open to women of all skill levels. Adult coed volleyball players' skills clinic and second officials clinic - Meet on Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School gymnasium for this event, which is free to all Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation adult coed volleyball league participants. The clinic from 1:30-3:45 p.m. is for players in coed divisions 1, 2 and 3-North, while the 4-6:15 p.m. clinic is for players from divisions 3-South, 4 and 5. Eaglecrest Ski Area - Workshops with former World Champion downhill skier Hilary Lindh: Hilary Lindh of Juneau, who won a silver medal in the downhill at the 1992 Albertville Olympics and the 1997 World Championship downhill, will lead the "Yes, You Can!" Women's Ski Day on Saturday, Feb. 14; the "Get Out of Your Rut" all-day ski clinic for men and women on Sunday, Feb. 15; and the "Kids Take-Off Day with Hilary!" ski racing workshop for ages 7-17 on Monday, Feb. 16. Juneau-Douglas High School indoor soccer minicamp - The sixth annual JDHS indoor soccer minicamp takes place on Monday, Feb. 16, at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School and is for boys and girls ages 5-14. The cost of the clinic is $25 per person and proceeds benefit the JDHS soccer program. Registration takes place 15 minutes before each session starts. The session for players ages 5-8 is from 9 a.m. to noon (registration at 8:45 a.m.) and the clinic for ages 9-14 is from 1-4 p.m. (registration at 12:45 p.m.). There will be an advanced session and tournament offered during the afternoon camp. Each player should bring a snack and water bottle and should be dressed to play indoor soccer. Gastineau Channel Little League registration - GCLL volunteers will be set up at Nugget Mall on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, Feb. 22 from noon to 4 p.m. to register kids for teeball, softball and baseball. Juneau Tornadoes Youth Wrestling - Registration for the new season opened Jan. 17 and continues through Feb. 21. The Tornadoes youth wrestling club teaches wrestling skills in a fun and safe environment, and new wrestlers are welcome. The season began Feb. 2 and continues through April 28 on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Juneau Gymnastics Academy. Mount Jumbo Gym preschool open gym - This Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation program is open from 10:30 a.m. to noon every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 909 Fourth Street in Douglas for children ages 1-6 and their parents or caregivers. A ratio of four children to one adult must be met. Balls, mats, trikes, scooters, large building blocks, parachutes and a Little Tykes climber system will be available for use. Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 3-7 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and 3-9 p.m. on Fridays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Treadwell Arena programs - The ice arena is open seven days a week with a variety of public open skates, youth open skates, pond hockey and rental times available (see Treadwell Arena Web site for details). The rink is closed for ice maintenance from 7:45-10:45 a.m. on Mondays and from 7:45 a.m. to noon on Fridays. Fees for open skates are $4 adults, $3 youths (age 17-younger) and $2 seniors (age 65-older). Fees for pond hockey are $5 adults, $4 youths and $3 seniors. Skate rental is $2 for adults and youths, and $1.90 for seniors. Passes are available for open skates, pond hockey and skate rental. Facility rental is $150 an hour. Juneau 4-H Cross-Country Ski Club - Regular ski sessions will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sundays through March 7, 2004, at various locations around Juneau. The club is run by Odin Brudie and Frankie Pillifant and is open for students in grades K-12, but parents are encouraged to ski with their children. Ski equipment is available for rent, but people renting equipment must participate in most of the club's events. A 4-H membership fee of $6 (good all year for all 4-H clubs) will be charged, and ski equipment can be rented for the season for $50 (with $20 refunded if you participate in seven 4-H ski days, scholarships available based on need). Auke Bay gyms open to adults and teens; Gastineau gyms open to all ages. $3 fee per session. All abilities welcomed, bring a racquet if you own one.
