ANCHORAGE - A man whose two sons died in a plane crash off Kodiak has suffered another loss.
The home of Frank Martushev, who lives in Kachemak Selo near Homer, burned over the weekend.
Martushev's two sons, Zahary and Joe, were among the six people who died Jan. 5 when their plane crashed. Two of his nephews also died.
Martushev also is related to the fishing captain, Guiorgui "George" Reutov, who died Saturday when his 38-foot fishing boat overturned in stormy seas off Kodiak, Martushev said.
All were part of the Russian Old Believer community.
The fire likely was caused by an electrical problem, Martushev said. It took only about an hour for the home and all that he owned to burn to the ground, he said.
"Yeah, it's like you've been hammered one after another time," he said. "One thing you didn't forget yet and then another thing begins and then my friend got drowned, the boat tipped over.
"This month, everything is like a nightmare. It's like I'm still dreaming. I'm not really in this world."
