Eaglecrest celebrates the 2010 Winter Olympics

JUNEAU - Eaglecrest Ski Area is hosting a Winter Fireworks Spectacular Saturday in honor of this year's Winter Olympics being held in Vancouver.

Beginning at 4 p.m., organizers are inviting the public take part in a variety of activities at the mountain. The opening ceremonies will be re-played at 4 p.m. in the Day Lodge. A bonfire will be lit at 4:30 p.m. and the Hooter lift will run until 5 p.m.

Then, at 6 p.m., a torchlit parade will precede a fireworks display.

Organizers said locals should show up by 6 p.m. to get a good vantage point from which to enjoy the show and dress for the weather.
