Second X-C ski race set for Saturday

JUNEAU - The Juneau Nordic Ski Club will hold its second cross-country ski race of the season on Saturday morning at Eaglecrest Ski Area.

There are several changes from the season's first race. Saturday's race - offering a choice of 8, 12 or 16 kilometers - has been moved to the upper nordic loop due to poor conditions on the lower trails. It starts at 11 a.m., with registration at 10:30 a.m. The race is open to classic and freestyle skiers.

Racers must hike up to the trails, or ride the chairlift and ski down. A JNSC season pass or day pass is required. For additional details, see the Sports in Juneau section.

Logan Pause also missed his attempt.

In the championship, Diego Martinez scored in overtime to give Mexico a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica.
