FAIRBANKS - Three Fairbanks area men have been charged with felony assault, theft and burglary.

Alaska State Troopers believe four men went to a Chena Hot Springs Road home over the weekend and brutally beat a man with a baseball bat. The man remained hospitalized for at least two days.

Eighteen-year-old Patrick A. Johnson and 20-year-old John P. Miller, 20, both of North Pole, as well as 19-year-old Bryan E. Rees, of Fairbanks, have each been charged.

The fourth man has not been formally charged.

The victim told troopers he heard a knock at his door on Saturday night. He says the four men forced their way into his home. He says they punched, kicked him and struck him with the bat.

One of the suspects said the assault was prompted by the victim making calls to Rees' girlfriend.
