PALMER — Alaska State Troopers say multiple officers fired at an armed man who shot first outside a home near Palmer.
Troopers took a 911 call shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday that a suicidal man had already sustained a gunshot wound and that family members at the location feared for their safety.
Officers went to the home and the man came out brandishing a gun and fired. Troopers also fired and the man retreated into the home.
The man was seriously wounded and troopers say he surrendered.
Charges had not been filed Friday afternoon and the man’s name has not been released.
Troopers say names of the officers who fired will be released Monday.
