Nordic ski clinics changed

JUNEAU - The schedule for Juneau Nordic Ski Club classes in skate and classic ski techniques Feb. 22-24 at Eaglecrest has changed.

Instructor Adam Verrier from Anchorage, a world-class skier who was on the U.S. 1998 Olympic team in Nagano, could not be in Juneau tonight as originally planned. The revised schedule is:

• Feb. 22: 1 p.m., skate; 3 p.m., classic.

• Feb. 23: 8:30 a.m., beginning classic; 10:30 a.m. advanced classic; 1 p.m., beginning skate; 3 p.m., advanced skate.

• Feb. 24: 8:30 a.m., beginning skate; 10:30 a.m., advanced skate; 1 p.m., beginning classic; 3 p.m., advanced classic.

Classes last one hour, 45 minutes, and cost $20 each. To sign up, call or visit the Eaglecrest Ski School, 790-2001, or 586-5284. Payment is required to reserve a space in the class. The ski school accepts Visa or Mastercard over the phone.

Verrier also will hold a free waxing clinic at a time and place to be announced. The first half of the clinic will cover basic waxing for both glide and kick, while the second half will cover more advanced techniques.
