JAHA roundup: Travis Wells' late heroics lift Flying Prunes to win

Travis Wells broke a 2-2 tie midway through the third period to give the Flying Prunes a 3-2 win over Air Excursions on Monday at Treadwell Arena in a Juneau Adult Hockey Association Tier D tilt.

April Sapp had the assist on Wells' game-winner. Eugene Pawlik III had a goal and assist, Molly Yerkes scored and Kip Watts picked up an assist for the Prunes.

Liam Carnahan turned back 15 of 17 shots in the win.

Jason Soza and Alpheus Bullard provided Air Excursions' goals while Tom Straugh recorded the team's assists.

Darryl Tseu stopped 16 of the 19 shots he faced in the loss.

TIER A

Play It Again Sports 3, Island Pub 3

Dan Teske's hat trick helped the Island Pub seal a tie with Play It Again Sports on Sunday.

Jerry Nankervis assisted on two of Teske's goals while Blake Galvin also had an assist.

For Play It Again Sports, Stan Savland scored twice, John Bohan posted a goal and an assist and Mark Kaelke chipped in one assist.

Play It Again Sports goaltender Clayton Jernigan made 33 saves while Chip Verrelli stopped 26 of 29 shots for the Island Pub.

WOMEN'S A

Northern Keta 2, Island Pub 1

Cecile Elliott's goal with 5:30 left in the game gave division-leading Northern Keta a one-goal win over the Island Pub on Sunday.

Elliott also earned the assist on Rachel Bowman's second-period goal. Karen Blejwas had an assist in the win.

Michelle Morris scored the Island Pub's lone goal off assists from Kristin Petterson and Cathy Tide.

TIER B

Winter Kings 7, Island Pub 2

Steve Box and Randy Host contributed two goals and an assist each as the Winter Kings routed Island Pub on Monday.

Brian Van Kirk added a goal and assist while Christopher Pyle and Chris Chiles found the net in the win. Robert Jones contributed two assists while Stephen Morrison stopped 18 of 20 shots for the Winter Kings.

The Island Pub's Trevor Joyce and Dennis Hall scored goals and Marc Wheeler posted an assist in defeat.

Mario Perez stopped 13 shots in the loss.

Kensington Goldminers 3, Ice Dogs 3

Nathaniel Haddock and Peter Ord scored in the game's final 3:40 to help the Ice Dogs rally from a two-goal deficit on Sunday.

Jim Ord scored a goal, Gregory Stopher had two assists while Jack Gregson, Jim Craig and Bill Holbrook had assists for the Dogs. Craig made 19 saves in the tie.

Kyle Eyre scored twice and Dennis Weston added a goal to lead Kensington.

Doug Woodby had two assists while Chris Mertl, Thomas McKenzie and Dennis Weston had one each in the draw. Kensington goaltender Jerry Nankervis made 17 saves in the tie.

WOMEN'S B

Les Schwab 1, Alaskan Dames 0

Lauree DiCarlo's goal at 11:16 in the first period was all Les Schwab needed Sunday against Alaskan Dames.

Anne Johnson and Janice McLean picked up the assists on DiCarlo's tally.

Julie Nielsen stopped all 12 shots she faced for the shutout.

Alaskan Dames goaltender Lisa Ouellette turned back 14 of 15 shots.

TIER C

Grey Matter 6, Capital Embroidery 0

Grey Matter pounded Capital Embroidery on Sunday behind Dave Haas' two goals and two assists .

Jeffery Johns had a goal and assist, Andrew Jensen scored twice and Jayme Johns added a goal for the Grey Matter.

Rick Pannell picked up the shutout in goal.

TIER D

Air Excursions 3, Green 2

Dawn Momblow's second goal of the game gave Air Excursions a Sunday win over the Green.

Momblow's goal came with 4:14 left in regulation. Alpheus Bullard scored, Gail Blundell had two assists while Jason Soza and Lissa Kramer chipped in one assist each for Air Excursions.

Gene Cheeseman made 10 saves in the win.

The Green's Mark Baker scored on a penalty shot, and Bernard Schneider added a goal off Patrick Darelli's assist.

Scott Sell stopped 11 shots in defeat.
