JUNEAU - Again this year, the Juneau Cooperative Church Council is sponsoring a series of six Lenten Lunches to recognize the weeks preceding Easter.
All luncheons will be held at noon on Thursdays at Northern Light United Church, on the corner of 11th and B streets in the downtown Federal Building area. Parking is available at the church. All luncheons begin and end within the hour between noon and 1 p.m. in time for folks who are working to attend.
The theme for this year's speakers is "Living Lent: Heart, Soul and Mind," based on the scripture from Matthew 22:37. Each luncheon will feature music and speakers from the various Christian churches. A lunch of homemade soups and breads will be served and donations are requested for the Glory Hole.
The first Lenten Luncheon is this Thursday and will feature speakers Richard and Nora Dauennhauer, with music by the Tlingit Gospel Singers. For more information, call 586-9562 or 789-4093.
