Flight delayed for returning soldiers

FORT WAINWRIGHT - A Friday flight of returning Fort Wainwright soldiers has been rescheduled for Saturday evening.

Army officials say the delay was caused by availability of aircraft. A second flight is still expected to arrive late Tuesday night.

More than 40 members of A Company, 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment are returning to Alaska after a yearlong deployment in Iraq.

Army officials say company pilots flew more than 1,200 missions moving personnel and equipment around Iraq.

The deployment also represented more than 14,000 crew member hours.
