Juneau's Southeast Road Runners held their first race of the season, the Sweetheart's Relay, in Douglas on Saturday, and an impromptu karaoke party nearly broke out.
The short, early-season relay race was a low-key beginning to a race calendar that intensifies during the summer months. Pairs ran a two-mile stretch each that started and finished at the Douglas Fire Hall.
Runners were invited to wear costumes and enjoy bad love songs before and after the race.
Scott May was the overall winner, running both the first and second legs by himself in a combined time of 28:43. The team of Jordan Cottingham and Bri Webber finished second in 31:31.
The club's next race is Flanagan's Run on March 14. Runners will have a choice of either a five-mile or a one-mile course.
