Presentation on assisted suicide tonight at UAS

"Physician Assisted Suicide: A Disabilities Rights Issue" will be presented at 7 p.m. tonight in the Egan Library at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Hugh Gallagher, a polio quadriplegic since 1952 who has served as a staff member for former Sen. Bob Bartlett, will deliver the free presentation. He is the author of several books and an activist on issues of civil rights for the disabled for nearly 40 years.

Family activities Monday

An afternoon of activities for families with elementary school-age children is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday at Marie Drake school.

Activities include planetarium shows, story telling, a crafts table, face painting and animal balloons. All activities are free. Adults must accompany children.

A presentation on "Place Names of Our Area" is scheduled during the Historical Society meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Juneau Senior Center.
