Thanks to the road crews for keeping the roads as clear as they did.
When you visit Bartlett Regional Hospital be sure to see all the children's art on the third floor.
Sealaska will be meeting with shareholders next week. Shareholders need to voice their concerns regarding the benefits and pay of the board of directors. We have 13 board members. It is time to reduce the number of board members to six. Shareholders need to inquire about Sealaska's national search for a CEO.
I respect some having experiences worthy of gratitude in schools. Please respect that many children in our district do not get what they need, although federal law mandates for their impairments. I'm a parent. Thank you.
Evidently the city feels if it can coerce the Forest Service into unnecessarily placing restrictions on the George family's exchange lands on Douglas Island, it can continue to ignore proper enforcement of laws and regulations on Indian village lands. The problem still exists even if the George family land exchange never happens.
I am amazed that our assembly and city manager would consider aiding the flightseeing companies to upgrade their helicopters. This industry is not a mom and pop deal, it is a huge lucrative business and can afford their own noiseless upgrades. To keep our air clean I had to stop heating my house with wood. No one helped me upgrade our heating stove to cleaner-burning fuel. The expense was mine. Let that industry spend its own profits to upgrade to meet new standards, or borrow through regular business loans.
There are too many school-aged kids at Eaglecrest during school days. Some are homeschoolers and some are in school programs, but too many are simply avoiding school. Shouldn't this problem be corrected by the schools and Eaglecrest?
I've been reading the comments about teachers and their salaries. For those folks who have negative things to say about teachers, I just wish for one time they would go and prepare a class, teach it and grade the papers. Just once. I'm only asking for two hours of their time, have them step back and say to themselves, "My gosh that was really hard work." Then see if they really think teachers aren't earning what they deserve.
Regarding Jennifer Rudinger's letter about President Bush's faith-based assistance proposals, she's with the ACLU and this letter demonstrates why some people think ACLU stands for the Anti Christian Leftist Union. Catholic Community Services in our very own community is already getting federal funds, so this is nothing new. What certainly is not new is the fear-mongering and distortion of the left, which we on the right have come to expect.
Allowing contributors access to U.S. submarines in training seems rather worse than an overnight visit to the Lincoln Bedroom at the White House.
I recently spent a few days in the local hospital. What a group of caregivers. From entry personnel to readying for exits, all were superior and wonderful people. Nurses, food handlers, cleaners, etc., couldn't have been better.
Thanks to Beth Kerttula for having a different vision for Alaska than for Texas. Alaska is enriched by a wild ANWR.

Just want to pass along a great big thank you from the drivers at Capital Transit to the drivers of the red and white Ford pickup and the big green pickup that give us a break every morning during rush hour at Willoughby.
