Student Artist in the Spotlight: Bradley Gilbert

Posted: Friday, February 16, 2007

Age: 8.

Grade: second.

School: Harborview Elementary.

Reason: "I think art is really, really fun. When I was little, I did a lot of stick figures, usually a little one holding a big one's hand, because I saw a picture like that in a church. I like to sketch people, make things out of clay, and I like painting sometimes."

All in the family: "My little brother sometimes likes to draw pictures."

Future plans: "I want to be a dentist like my dad. Maybe I'll do art sometimes too."

Sound off on the important issues at

Activities: "I tried surfing in Hawaii last year. I kept falling off, but I kept getting back on. Now I'm a snowboarder."

His art teacher, M.K. MacNaughton, says: "Bradley loves art, and you can see that in his work. Bradley focuses completely on his work. He has an amazing capacity to creatively approach any new project. His use of color and sense of design are delightful."
