A 5-year-old girl died Saturday from injuries sustained during a car accident earlier this month on North Douglas Highway.

Haylee Greenbank was being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for severe head injuries following a two-vehicle accident Feb. 3. She succumbed to those injuries Saturday, according to a report from the King County, Wash., Medical Examiner's Office.

Haylee Greenbank was traveling in a 2003 Dodge Stratus driven by her mother, Asia Greenbank, and her 3-year-old sister when their vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a 1997 Jeep Cherokee in the 5100 block of Douglas Highway.

The road surface was covered with ice and snow and is suspected of being a factor in the collision, according to police.

The mother and her 3-year-old daughter were treated at Bartlett Regional Hospital and were released.

The girl's father, U.S. Coast Guard member Toby Greenbank, arrived at the scene shortly after the accident but broke his leg while running up to the car. He also was flown to Seattle for treatment.

Neither drug nor alcohol use is suspected in the accident, police said. The investigation continues.
