FAIRBANKS - Fairbanks police say a 14-year-old boy brought a gun to his middle school and was arrested.
A student Thursday afternoon approached administrators at Randy Smith Middle School and alerted them to a possible problem.
Interviews with other students led them to the 14-year-old.
A search of the boy's locker revealed an unloaded handgun and ammunition.
The boy was transported to the Fairbanks Youth Facility.
Police Sgt. Jeromey Lindhag says a weapons misconduct charge has been forwarded to the district attorney's office.
The student also could be banned from the school for one year.
