Black-bear and brown-bear rugs from a bankruptcy sit on a table as auctioneer Ron Alleva, with hand raised, calls off the bids for one of the hides being sold at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game horn and hide auction Sunday in Anchorage. The antlers and hides were being auctioned are from animals that were poached, killed in defense of life or property or by accident, or shot for being a nuisance. Proceeds from the sale will go into the agency's operating budget. The auction, which drew buyers from around the world, is held during the two-week Anchorage Fur Rendezvous winter festival.
