The Canvas is offering two new after school classes for elementary and middle school students in March.

Youth/Teen Hip-Hop with Kim Andree

Fridays, March 11-25, 3:30-4:30 p.m. (drop in, pay as you can)

After class, head to The Canvas to bust a move with Kimmi. Beginners welcome. Sneakers advised.

Kids Drawing: Character Development with Averyl Veliz

Saturdays, March 5-26, 10:30 a.m.-noon (4 classes). $75 (materials included)

Illustrator Averyl Veliz will teach a wide array of drawing techniques to students ages 8-teen. Students will explore character development and build a cast of characters, developing a story of their own design.

Paint a Skateboard with Patrick Van Pool and Rico Worl

Sunday, March 13, 1-4:30 p.m.

Hand paint using acrylic or cut stencils for spray painting designs. Patrick Van Pool, of Sequence, and Rico Worl, local artist, will provide instruction and inspiration to turn a blank board into your own masterpiece. Used blank skateboards are included with fee, new blank skateboards will be available for purchase. $15. Fee includes used skateboard to paint. New boards available for purchase.

Kids Marimba (4 week)

Sundays, March 13-April 3, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Marimba is a large xylophone-like instrument, steeped in the tradition of the Shona people of Zimbabwe.
