A farewell with friends, co-workers

Posted: Friday, February 18, 2005

The members of the Juneau Navy League held a reception Monday for Lt. Kyle Taylor (center). Friends and Department of Labor co-workers gathered at the Buoy Deck to wish him well. Taylor, the veterans program coordinator in the Employment Security Division, leaves next week for San Diego. He will eventually be deployed to Kuwait, where he will run a coastal intelligence unit.

The Juneau Navy League is an organization that supports U.S. sea services, including the Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Merchant Marines. Current league projects include gathering books, DVDs and videos for the USS Juneau, which is deployed in Japan as part of the Navy's amphibious warfare units. The ship will head to the Middle East in support of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Donations to the USS Juneau can be dropped off at the law office of Joe Geldhof, at 229 Fourth St. For more information about the Juneau Navy League, call 586-8193.
