ANCHORAGE - Alaska State Troopers said a Kenai woman was killed Monday afternoon when the driver of a Ford Windstar fell asleep and crashed into a one-ton truck at Mile 88 on Sterling Highway.
Troopers said Cindy Rehm, a passenger in the Windstar, died from injuries suffered in the crash that also sent at least four others to Anchorage hospitals.
Troopers said the Windstar was traveling south when the driver reportedly drifted across the center line after falling asleep and collided head-on with the Dodge truck.
Troopers said all passengers were wearing seatbelts, though one of the Windstar passengers was ejected from the car.
Troopers shut down the highway for nearly four hours.
