Woman struck by vehicle in domestic violence dispute

JUNEAU -A 45-year-old Juneau woman was struck by a motor vehicle Tuesday night in the Mendenhall Valley following a domestic violence dispute.

The Juneau Police Department and Capital City Fire Rescue responded to a report at about 9:50 p.m. that a woman had been struck by a vehicle on Back Loop Road at Mint Way. The driver of the vehicle had left the scene by the time authorities had arrived.

The woman suffered injuries to her extremities and was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

An investigation revealed that the victim knew her assailant and police determined the incident was domestic-violence related. Police said they had strong leads but had yet to locate the suspect as of Wednesday evening.

Alcohol was a factor and the investigation is continuing, according to police.
