Julia Nave and Richard Isett Jr. won their divisions Sunday during the Juneau Ski Club's Timberwolf Gifts giant slalom races at Eaglecrest Ski Area.

The races were being made up from earlier this season, when poor snow conditions in late December forced their postponement.

Nave won the female division by just over a second faster than runner-up Gabrielle Wahto. Nave recorded the fastest times on each run - 48.61 seconds on the first run and 48.80 on the second - for a total time of 1:37.41.

Wahto took second place with a total time of 1:38.43, followed by JSC race director Heidi Reifenstein in 1:39.09. Kayla Harmon fourth in 1:41.57, followed by Lyndsey Kelly in 1:43.71 for fifth place.

In the male division race, Isett posted the fastest first-run time of 45.94 but was third in the second run (46.31) for a total time of 1:32.25.

Christopher Hinkley took second place overall in 1:32.61 and Nick Yankee, who was fastest in the second run (46.20), took third place overall in 1:33.11. Joshua Young finished fourth in 1:34.05, while younger brother Zachary Young took fifth place in 1:34.39.

The Juneau Ski Club will be in Girdwood next week for the Alyeska Cup held Saturday through Feb. 28 at Alyeska Resort.

The Alyeska Cup and Juneau's Alaska Marine Lines Series, which took place Jan. 29 to Feb. 2, are the two Junior Olympic qualifying race series in Alaska. The top skiers over the course of the two race series qualify for their age group's Western Region Junior Olympic events in the Lower 48.
