Sealaska candidate speech is limited

Posted: Thursday, February 19, 2009

In regards to the letter "Native leaders step up speak out" My question is how?

Candidates for the board of Directors of Sealaska are limited to 100 words in a proxy statement. Then Sealaska'a management offers a postage fee of $25 for the immediate return of the proxys.

Then Sealaska allows 200 words in a campaign statement but doesn't mail it out for another 30 days after management offers the reward for the return of proxys.

And if an independent candidate wants to make a speech at the annual meeting, like last year, independent candidates must pay their own way to California and then are allowed five minutes to speak.
