Megan Gunyah, 17, a senior at Metlakatla High School in Metlakatla, smiles after giving a speech Wednesday at the Capitol. Gunyah was chosen as The Alaska Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Alaska. Seven finalists from around the state attended the ceremony. Gunyah maintains a 4.0 GPA and is an accomplished athlete. She plans to attend the University of Alaska Anchorage this fall.
