SOLDOTNA - A small airplane suffered extensive damage when it crashed at the Soldotna Municipal Airport.
Soldotna police said the Beechcraft plane belonging to Missionary Aviation tried to land Monday afternoon.
Police said 52-year-old pilot Robert Widman of Soldotna missed the runway. Instead, the plane touched down about 35 feet to the side on snow-covered flat ground.
Sgt. Robb Quelland said the plane traveled about 325 feet before stopping.
There were no injuries to the pilot or co-pilot, 60-year-old Donald Bosworth of Soldotna.
Quelland says the plane -- valued at about $1.5 million -- had extensive damage to the engine and landing gear.
