Parnell signs first bill of session into law

Posted: Friday, February 19, 2010

JUNEAU - Gov. Sean Parnell has signed his first bill into law.

The measure allows for the use of low-speed electric vehicles on roads posted with speed limits of 45 mph, with conditions. Among those: that the highway be in an unorganized borough, not connected by road to Anchorage or Fairbanks, or that the road is within a municipality of fewer than 35,000 people that have passed ordinances allowing for use of the vehicles.

Parnell signed the bill, sponsored by Sen. Bert Stedman and Rep. Peggy Wilson, into law in Sitka Thursday.
