ANCHORAGE - The dog and human food that mushers will need for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race are being dropped off in Anchorage this week.
Some of the 71 mushers signed up for the 1,100-mile race to Nome are dropping off the food themselves while others have shipped it.
From Anchorage, the food will be sent to most of the checkpoints along the trail.
The Iditarod's ceremonial start takes place on March 6 in Anchorage. The competitive race begins the following day in Willow.
