My skill as a tennis player will never remotely approach my enthusiasm for the game, its strategies, great players, history and traditions. However, I join those who are delighted at the rumor that the city may decide not to convert the new ice arena into tennis courts during the summer.
We have other places to play indoor and outdoor tennis. But we have only one superb, state-of-the-art ice arena. And, watching my granddaughter's pride and big grin as she takes her first ice skating lessons ranks right up there with being courtside at the U.S.T.A. Open.
Hopefully, the Assembly will also recognize that the ice arena should be a popular and profitable year-around addition to the community's attractions for visitors. So, thanks to all who made the ice arena possible. And, "ditti, ditto" thanks to an Assembly decision to stay "iced" throughout the year.
