FAIRBANKS — The state fire marshal’s office is investigating a fire that destroyed a hangar and two aircraft near the Chena Marina Air Strip earlier this week.
Goldstream Fire and Rescue Chief Jack Willard told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner that the hangar was owned by Anderson Aviation. It contained one complete plane and one partial plane. The hangar was completely destroyed.
Willard says water tankers from the Ester, University, Fairbanks, North Star and Steese fire departments battled the blaze that broke out Tuesday night.
