FAIRBANKS — A spokesman says employees of the Alaska Department of Transportation don’t remember the last time they had to close the Dalton Highway, as they did this week.
Spokeswoman Meadow Bailey told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner the gravel road to Prudhoe Bay was unsafe in a weather system that also forced closure of the Steese Highway at Eagle Summit.
The Dalton Highway was closed at milepost 275 on Friday. The state’s Web site said Saturday it remained closed.
