4-H Rifle Club to begin meeting in March
The 4-H Rifle Club will begin meeting March 1 for kids over 10 years of age. Children will receive an introduction to shooting safety and begin building basic rifle shooting skills.
The club will meet at the Boys and Girls Club on Mallard Street behind the Nugget Mall running from 6:50-8 p.m. There is a $6 fee for joining.

Science fair, bridge contest at open house
An open house featuring the Alaska Capital Engineers' Balsa Bridge Contest and the Capital City High School Science Fair is scheduled from 4:30-6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Marie Drake gym. The awards ceremony will be at noon Saturday.
Horseback riding class for girls offered
Horseback riding classes for girls ages 6 and older are scheduled in March at Swampy Acres.
The classes, presented in conjunction with the Tongass Alaska Girl Scout Council, are on each Saturday of the month. One class is scheduled from 2-4 p.m.; a second from 4-6 p.m. The cost is $100 for registered Girl Scouts and $107 for new members.

Students sought for Native health program
Twenty students from Southeast Alaska will be selected to participate in SEARHC's Ethel Lund Village Health Occupations Program. Students will be selected for the program on the basis of their interest in the Native health field.
Participants will receive hands-on experience at Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka. The program is open to juniors and seniors and will run from April 9-16.
