Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

• Thad Joseph Smith, 22, was arrested for drunken driving at 12:46 a.m. today near Yandukin Drive and Crest Street. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Assault:

• Police arrested a man, 31, for fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor, at 9:21 p.m. near South Franklin Street. The man pulled a knife on another man during a street fight and cut his forehead. The man was lodged at the state prison. Police believe alcohol was a factor.

Thefts:

• A car battery was reported stolen from a vehicle at 7:08 a.m. Thursday near Northwood Drive. The battery, valued at $90, was stolen Wednesday night.

• A black tote bag was reported stolen at 1:49 p.m. Thursday from a locked vehicle parked near Glacier Highway. The bag, which contained cash and IDs, was stolen Wednesday night.

• A car stereo, valued at $70, was reported stolen at 2:17 p.m. Thursday near Nelson Street. The theft occurred Monday night.

Vehicle accidents:

• Police cited a woman, 22, for careless driving following a two-vehicle accident at 2:35 p.m. near Haloff Way and Mendenhall Loop Road. A 1984 Subaru driven by the 22-year-old struck a 2002 Jeep driven by a woman, 36. The Jeep sustained $4,000 in damage and the Subaru was totaled.
