REACH walks to the moon

Posted: Sunday, February 21, 2010

To encourage physical activity at REACH, the Canvas community art studio's Fun Committee is challenging all REACH clients, employees and family members to walk 238,857 miles - the distance from Earth to the Moon.

"This will be quite the challenge, and we need all the participation we can get," said MK MacNaughton, program developer and instructor for The Canvas. "But it's a great week to launch the project."

The Canvas will have two treadmills in its window so folks can work out if the weather isn't cooperative. A chart in the window will show their progress.

For those participating, pedometers and log sheets are available at REACH.

"Pedometers can also be attached to the wheel of a wheelchair, with a little Velcro, so everyone can participate," MacNaughton added.
