JUNEAU - The Wal-Mart Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to Juneau Family Health and Birth Center in support of its Donated Health care program.

Juneau Family Health and Birth Center is a nonprofit organization that provides complete health care through a family practice clinic, a midwifery clinic and a birth center. It also offers community classes and resources aimed at strengthening parents, families and community.

Donated Health care provides quality health care for all at reduced or no cost to income-qualified persons. Services available with the program include: physicals, check-ups, well baby or child check-ups, immunizations, sick visits, well woman care, chronic care, prenatal and birth care, postpartum care and more. The birth center's physician treats people of all ages. An income-based fee structure is offered to all, and care is donated to anyone who cannot afford to pay. This program donates health care care to more than 220 persons annually.

Grant funds will help cover the cost of supplies, lab tests and services.
