SEATTLE (AP) - The Seattle Seahawks have signed Kansas City defensive back Reggie Tongue to a five-year contract worth an estimated $15 million, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported today.

Tongue was Alaska player of the year in 1990 as a senior at Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army.

Tongue, a 6-foot, 206-pound strong safety out of Oregon State, is a four-year pro who has been a starter the past three seasons for the Chiefs. He played in all 16 National Football League games in 1999, recording 89 tackles, 77 of them solo.

He also had two sacks, three fumble recoveries, one interception and one touchdown.
